Tormod Torvanger
Previously, Tormod Torvanger has served as a senior legal advisor at the Central Tax Office for Large Enterprises and as a senior lawyer in the tax department of a Norwegian Tier 1 law firm.
Since 2011, Torvanger has been affiliated with the Norwegian School of Economics, where he has been, and is, responsible for the institution's tax and corporate law courses. His PhD degree from the University of Bergen is based on a doctoral thesis on the Norwegian tonnage tax system: Access to the Norwegian tonnage tax system (Gyldendal 2020), and he is regarded as a leading academic in this field. He is also a lecturer in tax law at master's level at the University of Bergen.
Torvanger is a member of the Appeals Board for Petroleum Tax, the Deputy Chair of the Price Council for Aquaculture, a member of both the Research Group for Tax and Duties at the University of Bergen and a member of the Research Forum for Tax Law at the University of Oslo.
Since beginning his career as a tax lawyer in 2000, Torvanger has advised on a wide range of tax and corporate law matters and represented businesses in tax-related disputes, including extensive litigation before the courts. He also renders advice to industry and trade associations in relation to tax policy issues.
